Top 10 Best Laptops to buy in October 2021
10. Acer Aspire 5
The 10th best laptop to buy in 2021 is Acer Aspire 5. If you want to pay the absolute lowest possible price that will still provide you with a solid laptop, look no further than the Acer Aspire 5, the best ultra-cheap budget laptop available on the market in 2021.
Despite the low price tag, the device delivers fairly low heating, excellent battery charge, and various features.
It is one of the most affordable and good Ryzen laptops you can buy in 2021. This model of the laptop offers the best value for money at this price. It is one of the best sellers on Amazon, and the main reason for that is the excellent value it offers.
The built quality and design of the laptop are good. It comes in a metal and plastic combo build with a texturized matte finish on the back and front; Aspire 5 gives off a premium feel. It also includes a set of ergonomic hinges that allow for greater airflow from the underside of the device.
The durability is solid, and while this may not be the top-of-the-line premium device, we can’t say that it’s still rocking an incredible value for money in the budget range. Getting a metal built at a price like this is seriously impressive, and it does add a premium attached to it even at this level for the price.
Overall, this is a solid built quality with no flex or creaking. It is quite thin and light at 80 millimetres thick and has a weight of 3.7 pounds, making it very affordable.
The display on this device is a 15.6-inch full HD IPS panel that looks very good. You get complete accurate colors and great contrast, awesome viewing angles, and good sharpness. It should be more than good enough for gaming, media consumption, and also not too bad editing.
The performance on the laptop is one of the best at this price point. Acer color intelligence and Acer Bluelight shield technologies have been included in the mix to achieve an even better visual effect and protect your vision.
Acer Aspire 5 sports the 10th generation Intel Core i5 10210U processor that runs a 1.6 gigahertz by default and can be clocked up to 4.2 gigahertz in turbo mode. The laptop sports 8 gigabytes of DDR4 memory. When it comes to storage space, the device rocks with 256 gigabytes of NVMe SSD.
These specs are quite enough power for daily activities, and the processor will certainly not be a bottleneck for you.
The Dual-Core processor supports hyperthreading up to 4 simultaneous threads. The device has 4 megabytes of cache and is made in a 14-nanometer manufacturing process.
As for the graphics are special section, for non-demanding tasks, the integrated Intel UHD 620 graphics card operates in a range of 300 megahertz to 1.05 gigahertz. It is more than enough power to cover you as long as they’re not playing demanding video games or doing some serious visual editing work.
However, the key novelty here is in something else; it’s the Nvidia MX150 graphics, a new mobile graphics chip. It provides performance at the level of the GTX 950M model with DDR3 memory. The users can be confident that the level of performance will be delivered at a high level, especially if we keep in mind the price class of this computer.
You can upgrade both the RAM and SSD to a bigger and better one.
Acer Aspire 5 comes with a full-size backlit keyboard, and the fingerprint sensor is good. The keys also got a decent travel, and the typing experience is good. The trackpad is workable for the most part. The gliding is not smooth as it is not made of glass, but it gets the job done and supports Windows gestures.
It also utilizes a smart fingerprint sensor in the lower right corner of the keyboard, and it is compatible with Windows Hello. Also included in the mix is an HD webcam and the upper frame of the screen.
Acer Aspire 5 gives you plenty of ports. On the right, you have a Kensington lock slot, one USB 3.2 Gen1 port, and a headphone jack. On the left, you have a charge port, RJ45 ethernet port which is pretty unique for an ultrabook, one HDMI 2.0, two USB 3.2 Gen1 ports, and lastly USB C port which does not support charging.
A 48-watt hour battery powers it. It’s a four-cell lithium polymer battery with a capacity of 3220 milliampere hours. This laptop can work for over 6 hours if the battery does a great job. Also, you cannot charge this laptop using USBC. It charges 100 percent in less than 2 hours using its normal charger.
When you’re not working, relax and enjoy the even better sound with Acer true harmony technology specially designed to provide more realistic sound and deeper bass. A dual audio system that consists of 2 speakers of decent sound quality.
If you aim to get all the crucial features of a good laptop and at the same time save money by paying the lowest possible price, then Acer Aspire 5 is the best budget device you can find on the 2021 market. It’s amazing what the manufacturer has delivered at such a low price tag.
9. Microsoft Surface Laptop Go
The 9th best laptop to buy in 2021 is Microsoft Surface Laptop Go. It is one of the cheapest laptops Microsoft makes, and this offering might be one of the best values they have given on a portable laptop. The built quality of the Microsoft Surface Laptop Go is really good. It is meant to be thin, light, and is geared towards portability, and it achieves it.
It’s certainly not as powerful specs, but it starts from just $619.99 for the eight gig model. It’s just as pleasingly portable as them Chromebook jobbies but with full proper Windows onboard instead.
The laptop is fully made of metal, though, and comes in a few different color options that all look nice. Built quality wise there are no complaints as it is solid and doesn’t have any weak spots with flex or creaking anywhere. At a weight of 2.4 pounds and due to the smaller 12-inch display, this is easily the most portable laptop on this list and might even be the lightest laptop in this price range.
Overall, the built quality is a certain plus point in our opinion. Despite the lightweight frame, the Surface Laptop Go feels strongly constructed in every area. The aluminium lid is nice and stiff, with just a hint of flex to protect the display within. While the plastic body underneath certainly doesn’t bend on the pressure, and the same goes for a flat-screen hinge, too, it’s just stiff enough to keep the display firmly in place.
You’ve got three different designs of Surface Go laptop to choose from, you’ve got a fresh new ice blue version which looks very striking, you’ve got a sandstorm, and you got a platinum model.
The display on the laptop is a 12.4-inch pixel density screen display with around a full HD resolution. 1536 by 1024 HD resolution serves up just 148 pixels per inch. The contrast is better than you might expect, plus the color reproduction is impressively accurate if you want to edit images.
You got 99 percent of the sRGB gamut and 74 percent of the Adobe RGB gamut accurately represented by the Dinky panel. That’s pretty bloody bright as well, topping off at just a smidge under 400 nits, so it’s absolutely fine for outdoor use.
The video watching is nice, and the touch screen is a nice feature that opens up this laptop to a new range of people.
Microsoft Surface Laptop Go is powered by Intel Core i5 chipsets backed by 8 gigabytes of RAM. It’s fine for editing images and other less intensive creative tasks too. You can even get away with some light gaming on the side.
There’s no dedicated GPU or anything like that. Older and less demanding entitles all you will manage. The most base model of the Microsoft Surface Laptop Go doesn’t just come without the fingerprint sensor and has everything. It also comes with 128 gigs of storage.
You can upgrade an SSD to 256 gigs of storage. Even though these might not be the best specs ever on a laptop, they still offer capable performance for most everyday work and are also decent for editing.
Another area where Microsoft impresses with the Surface Laptop Go is that chiclet keyboard that stretches the laptop’s full width; no space is wasted here. So despite that compact design, you’re rewarded with a more comfortable typing experience.
It’s a super quiet laptop as well, even when you’re in full flow. It comes with a backlight, so you can use the Surface Laptop Go at night. The laptop also features a good-sized trackpad perfectly responsive to your swipes and your multi-touch gestures. You’ve also got touch screen controls like pinch to zoom.
The selection of ports is also rather limited. You’ve got a single USB Type-A port, USB Type-C port, usual surface charging port, and a headphone, Jack. So if you love yourself a bit of tasty peripheral action, you’re gonna have to look elsewhere.
The power button on the Microsoft Surface Laptop Go also has an integrated fingerprint sensor which is helpful if you find yourself locking your laptop dozens of times a day. It is combined with that Windows Instant-on feature is a great little time saver; you’re pressing that power button, and then you’re into your Windows desktops within about a second or so.
You will go around 13 hours of full-on use while working with many chrome tabs open and streaming media simultaneously. After that, you can either change it by the USB Type-C port otherwise with the bundled Microsoft Surface Go charger.
Of course, using the proprietary Microsoft adapter is considerably faster than the USB Type-C port. In about an hour at the plug, you can probably run about 80 per cent charge, which is good returns.
Those speakers pump out a lovely bit of Dolby quality audio which is loud enough to be heard in a lively office or other places with plenty of stuff going on. Of course, it helped along because the sound seems to seep out of the keyboards.
Now in the current climate, chances are you’ll probably want a machine to do lots of zooming or teaming or whatever your video chat app of choice happens to be. So for video chat purposes, you go 720P webcam just housed there above the screen, and it’s absolutely fine for your standard video call.
Unfortunately, there are no shields to cover that webcam when it’s not in use. But at least you do get the notification LED alongside it, which flashes whenever an application uses the camera.
It’s much smaller and lighter than a lot of the competition around this sort of price point. You will enjoy using it every day for writing, streaming media, and messing around. But bear in mind if you want features like a fingerprint sensor and a decent amount of storage, you will have to up the price a bit.
8. Lenovo IdeaPad Flex 5
The 8th best laptop to buy in 2021 is Lenovo IdeaPad Flex 5. The Flex laptops are one of the best options for 2-in-1 ultrabooks, and recently Lenovo has updated its series with the latest processors from AMD. Flex 5 is a budget entry in Lenovo’s lineup of convertible laptops.
To ensure easy handling, Lenovo has moved in the bezels all around. The keyboard deck has a relatively rubberized feel, contrary to the lid of the laptop. But more importantly it neither of them attracts fingerprints or smudges as much.
You get these rubber feet on the bottom that allows for a pretty firm grip on a flat surface. But it’s because of their height; it’s compromises and efficient airflow to the white intake vents on the bottom.
You get an all-plastic build quality in this laptop. So as far as premium build quality goes, well, this laptop is not gunning for that title in the first place. The graphite grey finish that the device arrives at looks quite good, though. It weighs around 3.3 pounds, and you will not have a hard time carrying it around.
This device offers a 360-degree hinge that allows 2-in-1 comfortable use in a variety of modes. The smooth, slightly curved corners and robust hinges in the beautiful graphite grey finish make this laptop a feast for the eyes and the envy of those around you.
Although the case is plastic, the laptop does not feel less durable or cheap.
There’s also a 14-inch full HD 1920 by 1080 pixels IPS screen, and it is powered by Radeon Vega 6 graphics securing a clear display of text images and videos. But it should be noted that the brightness of Flex 5 is only 250 nits. The 10.touch screen is sleek and responsive.
The narrow bezels help the screen deliver a larger image in a smaller package. Because this is a 2-in-1 laptop, you can convert it into a tablet whenever needed. Its touch response is pretty good, and more importantly, the company provides a Lenovo digital pen inside the box.
Lenovo lets you choose from two equally great options an FHD IPS panel with 250 nits of brightness or an FHD TN panel with 220 nits of brightness. You’ve to set its brightness level at around 70 to 80 percent during everyday usage. This is not a vibrant color-rich display either.
Thanks to the mobile AMD Ryzen 5 4500U 2.1 gigahertz processor paired with a generous dual-channel 3200 megahertz and DDR4 16 gigabyte of RAM. Nothing you try to do in this device will slow you down. In short, this laptop has enough power for most power-hungry tasks.
Lenovo Flex 5 runs on an integrated AMD Radeon card that delivers a sharp image without lag.
The Lenovo IdeaPad Flex has a 256-gigabyte NVMe M.2 SSD that provides excellent data transfer speeds. Also, the device comes with the Windows 10 Home edition operating system.
The Flex 5’s keyboard is just good enough for a 2-in-1 laptop. It feels quite cheap while still being a decent typer. They have a fairly silent on your profile, yet the shift enter and backspace keys rattled by quite a bit.
The keys are well spaced out, and you will have no trouble maintaining your usual typing speed here. It is also a backlight with two levels of illumination to choose from.
The keyboard deck does not flex as much. The trackpad is made of a plastic bag, and it comes with Windows precision drivers, so gestures were perfectly fine. In terms of security, the Lenovo Flex 5 has a Windows Hello Certified fingerprint reader down the right arrow key, which is fairly responsive and fast.
The IdeaPad Flex 5 has a pretty impressive selection of connectivity; the left frame houses a DC port, a full-sized HDMI 1.4b, one USB 3.1 Gen1 Type-C, and a 3.5mm combo audio Jack.
The Type-C port also supports power delivery and depending on the region, Lenovo ships the laptop with either a battery charger or USB Type C adapter. Similarly, the right frame hosts a two USB 3.1 Gen1 Type-A ports, a 4-in-1 card reader, and the power button.
Interestingly both Type-A ports here also support always-on USB, meaning that you can charge your phones or tablets via the Flex 5 even when it is in sleep mode is completely turned off.
With its powerful hardware, this Lenovo model provides about 10 hours of full charge usage. The battery does its job quite well. It also supports fast charging using a 65-watt adapter with a Type-C USB connector.
The company notes that one hour of charging can charge up to 80 percent of the full capacity. Of course, this performance depends on the use and daily tasks such as listening to music, watching videos, word processing, social media, etc.
The audio is loud enough to fill an average-sized room with ease still, and all there is almost no bass production from the speakers.
There’s a front-firing Dolby audio stereo speaker setup that pumps out sufficiently good sound quality through the grills located on either side of the keyboard deck.
The camera quality itself is pretty decent. Although at times, it feels lost focus. The subjects look soft with muted colors, but I guess that’s possible for your regular video calling needs, and it comes with audio too.
It has stellar performance for its price and therefore is a great option for those who value raw performance over everything else. It’s a 2-in-1 convertible, and its potential utility just shoots through the roof.
7. HP Pavilion Gaming 15
The 7th best laptop to buy in 2021 is HP Pavilion Gaming 15. At less than $755 is probably the best performing gaming laptop at its price. This laptop is a sweet spot for people who want to get into gaming or editing but don’t want to spend that much.
The design and build quality of HP Pavilion is some of the best on a gaming laptop, in our opinion. Also, the build quality is top-notch, and you will not face any problem with the build quality of this laptop.
The laptop is made of a combination of metal and plastic. The Pavilion weighs around 5.2 pounds with a hard drive installed. It has a very angular gaming look to it with sharp edges and a matte textured finish to complete the look.
It comes in black with gold accents with a logo and red-colored RGB. Overall, it gives off this unique look that is quite nice to look at. Another great thing about this laptop is that it isn’t even that thick or heavy compared to other gaming laptops, and it is very much manageable.
The display on this device is a 15.6-inch full HD IPS panel with deep blacks, great color production, and good sharpness. The display is just amazing, and it works well. It has a peak brightness of 215 nits which some of the laptops in this price segment lack.
It comes with a great video editing experience and watching content. The color reproduction of this device is accurate. Overall, it is a great panel for media consumption and is good for editing as well. The performance is the biggest plus point here and is easily one of the best on this list.
The 15.6-inch display is responsive to every single touch.
The specs include the AMD Ryzen 5 4600H processor, eight gigabytes of RAM, 256 gigabytes of SSD, and Nvidia GeForce GTX 1650. At this price, getting a performance like this is insane, and this is excellent value.
This laptop will easily be able to edit any 1080P videos without sweat and perform every task quickly. The gaming is not a problem either due to the decently powerful GTX 1650 GPU, which should run most games at 1080P with a more than playable experience.
Overall, it will be hard to find a laptop that offers this level of performance for this price. It’s pretty quick when it comes to the booting time as it hardly takes around 10 seconds.
The keyboard is a full-size keyboard, and the keys have decent travel as well. You will feel really good while typing and using it in your day-to-day usage. Apart from that, even the backlit given on this laptop, a purple or green one, is much better than the red ones you usually get on the laptop.
Because under low light situations, the red one hurts your eyes. The backlighting has two levels of key brightness, and all keys and secondary functions are illuminated. Typing sounds to give you an idea of what to expect.
Typing is fine in terms of key presses, but the wrist rest area isn’t very long. There’s no flex on this keyboard. The trackpad is very good, and it’s a pretty big one. It’s fairly responsive to your touches as well.
On the left, you’ve got an HDMI 2.0 output, USP 3.2 Gen1 Type-A port, Gigabit Ethernet, USB 3.2 Gen2 Type-C port, and full-sized SD card slot. The right side has a 3.5-millimetre audio combo jack, two more USB 3.2 Gen1 Type-A ports, and the power input.
The Type-C port does not have Thunderbolt, and it cannot be used to charge the laptop. It does, however, offer display port 1.4 output, and both this and the HDMI port connect directly to the Nvidia graphics.
The back of the device has a couple of air exhaust vents towards the corners. The bottom panel is clean, with just air intake vents towards the back above the fans.
The Pavilion 15 houses a 38-watt hour battery and the battery is small, so you will be rushing to your charger now and then. This laptop with this battery lasts for about 3 hours if you use it to type in a few documents, watch a couple of videos and browse through the internet.
The speakers are below the grill at the back above the keyboard. They sound pretty average for a laptop tinny, really, without any bass.
There’s a 720P camera above the screen in the middle, and no one comes with Windows Hello support. The webcam is good on this laptop.
HP Pavilion Gaming 15 is a very good laptop, and you will enjoy working on it. You’re going to get a good display, a tactile keyboard, and a portable form factor. You will have no issues carrying it around in my backpack, and there are ample ports in this really thin body.
6. Acer Swift 3
The 6th best laptop to buy in 2021 is Acer Swift 3. It is one of the best budget laptops. If you want to get the absolute top bang for the Buck, we say check out the Acer Swift 3, the best value budget laptop that can be found in the market in 2021. It provides you with exceptional typing ergonomics as well as a high-speed Windows 10 Home operating system.
The Swift 3 series aims at a wide range of users and covers everyone from casual to pros in some fields. It is a laptop that is truly intended for almost everyone, and that’ll work great in a large number of applications.
Acer Swift 3 boasts a silver metal chassis construction, elegant and stylish but robust and durable. Also, another feature worthy of your attention is the mobility that puts a lot of similar 14-inch models to shame.
This mobility is achieved thanks to the thickness, which does not exceed 0.7-inches, while the weight is only 2.65 pounds, defining current standards. It gives you performance on the go and a lightweight design that makes it so appealing for anyone looking for a budget laptop that’s under $770. It’s one of the better-looking ultrabooks out there.
The device offers clear, vivid colors and a 14-inch screen with a rather thin frame. It grants you a larger area for displaying images and content. You will like how the Acer Bluelight shield technology filters out blue light that tires the eyes so you can work comfortably longer.
They say that the wide range of vivid colors combined with an elegant case is a feast for the eyes and a paradise for the fingertips. The display is quite vibrant, with text, graphics, and videos all looking pretty good.
Acer is committed to integrating the AMD Ryzen 7 4700U microchip, which consists of 8 Core that reaches frequencies of 4.10 gigahertz in the most demanding computing scenarios for technical resources.
Swift 3 is amazing for the listed price that the processor does not come alone, of course, as it is accompanied by 8 megabytes of cache, eight-processor threads, and 8 gigabytes of RAM, a 512 gigabyte SSD drive is responsible for storing your programs and digital files for everyday use.
Reducing the execution of the pre-installed Windows 10 Home 64-bit operating system to less than 10 seconds. For a budget laptop, it’s nice to see Acer thrown some additional features like Windows Hello enabled fingerprint scanner, Wi-Fi 6, built-in Alexa, backlit keyboard, plenty of in and out ports, and a decent webcam with two built-in microphones for zoom teleconferencing, online classes, and video chats.
The palm rests and the space between the keyboards is also made of metal. On the right side, under the keyboard, you’ll find a fingerprint scanner which indicates that the level of security offered by Swift 3 is increased and that it could be used for business purposes. Of course, Windows Hello features are supported by the fingerprint scanner and the webcam for the listed price hard to beat.
The connectivity is another aspect in which this device excels. Acer has also included the Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.0 technology, 3 USB ports and HDMI video port, headphone connector, and a combined microphone.
The touchpad is precise with a faster response than a similarly priced device that will enable an even more efficient operation.
Since there is no SD reader, the most practical way to expand memory would be selecting an external drive by connecting to a USB C port provided for this very purpose. For the listed price, you can’t beat this device.
This laptop will deliver a surprisingly high-level performance throughout its 9 hours of basic use on a single battery charge.
The two front-facing stereo speakers feature DTS audio and optimized bass response. We find it fine for consuming YouTube videos, but overall it comes off sounding a little flat for watching movies and listening to music.
Also, it still manages to pack in many performances, a great battery, and some value-added features, making it an enticing option for both professionals and students looking for an affordable ultrabook.

5. Dell XPS 13
The 5th best laptop to buy in 2021 is Dell XPS 13. It is the best overall laptop. One of the best overall laptops on the market in 2021 is Dell XPS 13. If you thought the new Dell XPS 13 looks great on the outside with its sleek, compact, and lightweight design, wait until you open it up.
The deck is stunning with arctic white woven glass fiber on the frost color option or black carbon fiber interior on the platinum silver edition. The latest Corning Gorilla Glass 6 is strong and resistant to shocks and scratches.
The KSPS 13 webcam is not only smaller but better as well. The four-part lens uses more elements than a typical webcam to deliver sharp video in all parts of the frame.
It weighs only 2.7 pounds and sports a very elegant and slim casing. The XPS 13 is a rather thin and light laptop. This laptop is the best in its class when it comes to authentication and information security.
The company’s data protection and encryption technologies make it easy for IT administrators in your business environment to manage privacy policies. The Dell client command suite secures smooth automation in easy management and monitoring in all environments.
The XPS 13 is built for maximum durability and crafted of a single aluminum block with a durable chassis and elegant finish. The optional Corning gorilla glass NBT makes the screen up to 10 times more scratch-resistant. It is precisely manufactured, the machined aluminum housing offers an elegant design with high-quality workmanship.
It is more robust than magnesium or plastic housings, and we love it. The black carbon fiber palm rest is pretty cool and comes straight from the aerospace industry. Also, the fiberglass fabric palm rest doesn’t get an excellent job with minimal weight.
What we like about the XPS 13 is that you get the 13.4-inch display and a chassis that’s about the same size as most 11-inch ultrabooks. So it slips into bags or tucks under your arm as you go between meetings or classes.
The four-sided infinity edge 1920 by 1200 display produces crisp details and is extremely bright at 500 nits, making it great for working or just catching up on movies sitting at an outdoor cafe. Like the Spectre, you can also bump the resolution up to a stunning 3840 by 2400 UHD plus display.
It may be overkill for most, but movies will look awesome. Unfortunately, you only get 69 percent of the DCI P3 color gamut, so it’s not optimal for those that need to work with accurate colors.
It gives you a top-notch performance in one of the best ultrabooks around. Your system will boot in seconds with the device offering 10th generation Intel Core i5 1035G1 6 MB Cache up to 3.60 GHz and 256 gigabytes of PCIe NVMe SSD storage space.
Also included in the mix is 8 gigabytes of DDR4 RAM, allowing you to perform several tasks simultaneously, even when it comes to more demanding applications. The device also boasts an improved thermal design that offers a lower thermal conductivity than air in a thin, flexible format to keep components cool.
The top-notch speed and intelligence of the 10th generation Intel Core processors and Intel Iris XP graphics ensure a fast, seamless and uncomplicated user experience. You want the best you got.
Despite its compact size, the keyboard only has a minor size reduction, so the island-style keys are still decent sized and well-spaced. The twin coil hinge makes it easy to open with just one hand, and although you don’t get the versatility of the convertible HP Spectre X360.
The 10-point capacitive touch panel version is responsive and easily keeps up with really no lag.
Moving on to the connectivity, and this is where you start making compromises. You only get 2 USB Type-C Thunderbolt 3 ports, a headphone Jack and a micro SD card reader.
If you’re someone who’s relying on external accessories that require you to plug in something to a USB Type-A port, that is something that you’re going to have to make a compromise on unless if you’re willing to accept dongle life.
Because Dell does include a Type-C to Type-A adapter, which is still pretty limiting because you could just have one of those USB Type-C plugs plugged in for power, and that just one of the remaining, which turns to be a limiting factor for a lot of people.
But we also understand that this notebook is geared for people who travel a lot, and you know, people who don’t necessarily use a lot of those ports.
The battery life on the XPS 13 is outstanding. This thing has a 52-watt hour battery, and it ended up lasting the longest among our thin and light notebooks. The device offers a very long battery life of up to 14 hours for the full HD plus model when streaming your favorite programs or up to 8 hours and 12 minutes of streaming on the 4K plus model.
You get some impressive audio, and since the speakers are on the side, the sound doesn’t sound muffled like on bottom-firing speakers. Listening to music or watching movies is enjoyable, especially with Waves Maxx Audio Pro pre-installed.
The Dell XPS 13 is an exceptionally designed compact ultrabook that offers a great combination of performance, responsiveness, and stunning visuals.
The webcam on the XPS 13 is not the greatest quality out there. We don’t think we can expect a better quality webcam on a notebook these days. But they should get the job done, and the microphone sounds good. So it should be fine for casual Skype calls or Zoom meetings.
The new XPS 13 comes with a fantastic design and build quality. This is the gold standard of an ultrabook, and it’s that good. The display is also one of the best, and its bright color accurate. It’s got amazing battery life and very good performance given the form factor.
The price is also very reasonable. If you’re shopping for an ultrabook, this should be on the top of our list.
4. Apple MacBook Air
The 4th best laptop to buy in 2021 is Apple MacBook Air. It is the best Apple laptop for the money. By now, you may have heard about Apple’s new M1 chip, and it’s a game-changer. Not long ago, the MacBook Air held its appeal more for its portability than performance, but now you get the best of both worlds for about $1100.
You also get some nice additional features with the MacBook Air-like touch ID fingerprint login, a pretty good audio system, a magic keyboard, a large precision trackpad, Wi-Fi 6, plus the facetime HD camera and a three-meter array makes your video calls a more pleasant experience.
MacBook Air is used by students, creative professionals, and many others.
The Apple MacBook Pro 13-inch now has the first Apple chip designed specifically for the Mac. The Apple M1 integrates great CPU, GPU, a neural engine, and more into a single system. Your projects will never work faster; thanks to the Octa-Core processor unit, it just rocks the house plain and simple.
The MacBook Air is about the same size and weight as the Swift 3. But it packs in substantially more power, letting you crush demanding projects, execute professional-quality editing and play graphics-intensive games all on an ultrabook chassis.
What’s remarkable is that the MacBook Air doesn’t even have a fan, so it’s dead quiet. It features an aluminum heat spreader to keep it running cool even when you’re pushing the air to its limits; it’s dead quiet.
You can’t talk about the MacBook Air without mentioning its stunning 13.3-inch retina display. 2560 by 1600 resolution display has impressive pixel density, so the text looks razor sharp.
With the P3 wide color space, you get vibrant images and incredible detail making it a choice option for photographers, video editors, designers, and content creators that need to work with more accurate colors on the go.
When you’re on the go, you may not be working in the same biting conditions all the time. The MacBook Air’s true tone technology will automatically adjust its display to give you a more natural viewing experience.
The MacBook Air comes with Apple’s fastest chip ever produced that brings Apple’s neural engine, which boosts the CPU, GPU, and machine learning tasks to blistering speeds like its more expensive big brother, the MacBook Pro.
It is built with the latest technology; the Apple M1 delivers the performance you need without sacrificing power efficiency.
The device sports a set of 4 high-performance cores, each designed to perform a single task that enables multi-threading, killer goods, mixing a premium performance, and high durability with the best possible price-quality ratio you can find right now.
The backlit keyboard delivers a comfortable typing experience. Furthermore, the force touch toucHPad provides precise cursor control, pressure detection capabilities, and multi-touch movements. The touch bar provides shortcuts.
You can protect your MacBook Pro with a secure enclave in M1 as well as the onboard touch ID. This Mac comes with pre-installed Mac OS, where updates can be downloaded for free from the Mac app store as usual.
You can connect to the internet via Wi-Fi and use compatible wireless peripherals and accessories with Bluetooth 5.0. The 2 Thunderbolt 3 ports provide USB support and can even connect to the Apple Pro XDR screen in full 6K resolution.
Apple has also included studio-quality microphones for clear recordings in calls. The company’s latest camera ISP in the M1 chip securing sharper images and more detail during video calls.
Another thing we very much like is the device’s active cooling system that allows the battery life to last up to 20 hours. Not just any 20 hours but 20 hours of video playback.
The MacBook Air now gives you performance and power like the MacBook Pro and a sleek and stylish ultrabook, making it the best Apple laptop for the money.
3. Microsoft Surface Pro 7
The 3rd best laptop to buy in 2021 is the Microsoft Surface Pro 7, to which we have awarded the title of the best 2-in-1 laptop available on the market in 2021, which is more powerful than ever. The Surface Pro 7 features an Intel Core portable class processor, an improved battery, a better graphics card, and a wider range of multi-tasking options.
It is extremely lightweight and versatile. This device will allow you to accomplish more in all conditions. It utilizes an HD camera and all-day battery life. The Surface Pro 7 can be turned from a laptop into a tablet with an integrated stand and removable cover.
Also, users will customize their workspace by connecting to multiple monitors and accessories using the Surface Dock 2. With fast charging, strong battery life, and a quick-start feature known as instant On, you can continue where you left off anytime or anywhere.
Microsoft Surface Pro 7 is the first and foremost tablet. The tablet is 11.5-inches wide and 9-inches tall making it about the size of a composition notebook. At about 1.7 pounds and 8.5 millimeters thick, it’s neither too heavy nor too thick. Some people find it a little too big for comfort.
Also, the Surface Pro 7 has a kickstand that enables it to stand up all on its own, something most tablets still can’t do without an accessory. It becomes very easy to interact with the tablet when it’s kept on a table at a low angle.
Despite the charming hardware, Windows is still a real nuisance when using the Surface Pro 7 tablet. Windows 10 is incredibly demanding and inconsistent with how it responds to input; stuttering, delayed or unresponsive clicks in choppy animations are still present in all Windows 10 machines.
These problems are exacerbated when using a finger as your primary input device. You can get access to the entire world of desktop-class hardware, and software experiences are incredible. Computing hybrid devices like the iPad Pro are still far away from offering all the functionality of a real PC; until then, the Surface Pro will remain the gold standard of this category.
Whatever angle you set your screen to, you’ll be more than pleased with the excellent quality of the 12.3-inch pixel sense display found on the Surface Pro 7. Sure it does not edge to edge like on the new Surface Pro X, but it’s more than enough for most people.
The colors are excellent, the blacks are deep, and the screen can get reasonably bright. The Surface Pro 7 ships with two custom display color profiles out of the box, sRGB, and enhanced. A toggle and action centre switch between these two color profiles and give you a little more control over the display’s appearance.
When choosing a pen for Surface Pro 7, you should try to pick up a model designed for the Surface Pro 7. You’ll love to take note of the Surface Pro 7, and because of the kickstand, you can even write directly onto the screen in the upright position, and the screen will stay put.
The pen can detect up to 4096 points of pressure, perceive tilt, angle and even has a functional eraser at the top. The button on the right side of the pen acts as a right-click button so you can use the pen in place of a mouse when using more compact desktop apps for more precise input.
In addition to inking, there’s nothing that stops you from using the pen for digital art. The precise capabilities of the pen paired with the desktop-class software make the Surface Pro a compelling option for digital artists.
Microsoft does offer a laptop with dedicated graphics on the Surface Pro 7. Nonetheless, the i7 Surface Pro 7 is the most capable Surface Pro there ever has been for like gaming. The improved performance is because the Intel iris plus graphics are integrated into Intel’s 10th generation i7 1065G7 CPU.
The Iris Plus graphics are in both the i7 and i5 CPU models of the Surface Pro 7. However, their clocks are slightly higher on the i7 model. The inclusion of a fan also keeps the i7 model running at higher clock speeds for longer.
The SSD on the Surface Pro 7 is soldered onto the motherboard inside a sealed shut tablet. Without a doubt, the Surface Pro 7 delivers exceptional performance and the most advanced applications. The advanced apps like PowerPoint in Photoshop run incredibly well.
Indeed the novelty of the Surface Pro would not be complete without the addition of the type cover. This accessory is what truly transforms the Surface Pro 7 into a 2-in-1. As for the actual typing experience, it’s just as good as previous generations of Surface Pro.
The type cover features a full-sized backlit chiclet keyboard with 1.3 millimeters of travel. Like previous models, the type cover folds up into a very comfortable typing angle. The keys are relatively quiet and provide satisfying tactile feedback. It’s impressive how good a keyboard Microsoft managed to fit into such a flat cover.
Similarly, the precision glass trackpad feels very nice, and it’s among the best on any Windows laptop. The input is instantaneous, and gesture support feels natural. The type cover is still a cover, it serves the purpose of protecting the screen when closed, and we don’t want it; you can flip it around or under the tablet.
The type cover recognizes when it’s flipped around, shutting off to prevent unintentional input when it’s being held from behind or pressed against the table. The type cover transitions the Surface Pro into a tablet much more effortlessly than other 2-in-1’s with the detach mechanism or 360 hinges.
Above all, the Surface Pro 7 has a great selection of ports and connectors. The Surface Pro 7 has a micro SD card slot and a full-sized USB A 3.1 port. With these connectors, you will use all USB A and micro SD devices without carrying around adapters.
The Surface Pro 7 is the first in its lineup to feature a USB C port. Though it’s not Thunderbolt 3 compatible, it’s a lot more useful than the mini DisplayPort that was in its place previously.
With this new connector, the Surface Pro 7 is now compatible with most Type-C devices in the convoluted USBC ecosystem. Likewise, the Surface connects port can still be used with the Surface doc, another powerful yet aging device that expands the connectivity of the Surface Pro.
Microsoft advertises 10.5 hours of battery life on the Surface Pro 7 for regular use. The Surface Pro 7 can charge quickly with its new fast charging capabilities. With the included charger, the Surface Pro 7’s battery can charge up to 80 percent in an hour. In contrast, one thing that will drain the Surface Pro 7’s battery is gaming.
The service Pro 7 is a very mature machine that is competent for most of your computing needs if you’re attracted to the novelty of a tablet that can replace your laptop but need a real PC that’s capable of running all of your favorite software than the Surface Pro 7 is an excellent choice.
2. Asus ROG Zephyrus G14
The 2nd best laptop to buy in 2021 is Asus ROG Zephyrus G14. It is the best gaming laptop. The Asus ROG Zephyrus G14 will catch the attention of a lot of avid gamers. It’s got amazing performance, fantastic portability, and unbeatable battery life.
Also, it delivers powerful gameplay with a 120-hertz refresh rate, great portability, and incredible battery life for gamers wanting high-performance gaming on the go. It’s a triple threat for high-performance gaming on the go for about $1510.
In terms of build, it is among one of the nicest built laptops. The Zephyrus G14 is a great design with a solid build. Its magnesium alloy chassis makes the laptop incredibly lightweight and slim. It weighs around 3.5 pounds.
We like the ergo lift hinge tension, and it’s well-weighted so that you can open it with just one hand. The hinge also raises the back end, which is great; not only does it allow for more airflow, it also makes the laptop more ergonomic and gives you a more comfortable typing experience and a better viewing angle.
The 14-inch FHD display gives you a smooth 120-hertz refresh rate. Also, it has amazing color accuracy compared to other comparable gaming laptops like the Asus ROG Strix Scar III or Razer’s Blade 15. It’s also brighter, plus there when free sync, and you’ve got a smooth and judder-free gaming experience.
They have three options for the screen that you can choose from; there’s a 1440P 60-hertz panel, a 1080P 120-hertz panel, and a 1080P 60-hertz panel with adaptive sync.
The AMD Ryzen 9 processor and GeForce RTX 2060 with Max-Q design graphics give you ample power to take on the most demanding games. Zephyrus G14 is a unique laptop with an awesome GPU that supports gaming too.
Especially with the Zephyrus G14’s new Zen 2 chips and 8 Core processor, you should easily get over 60 frames per second on titles like far cry five and rise of the tomb raider. Still, overall the thermals are impressive; it gets warm but not hot to the touch levels.
This device is good even for professionals who want laptops with a lot of power to do video editing or heavy tasks, but they don’t want to break their bank. Generally, gaming laptops are very, very heavy.
The keyboard on this laptop is also very good. The key travel is pretty good and the same with the tactility. There’s a pretty decently large gap between each key, meaning you can increase the surface area of each keycap without changing the otherwise perfect positioning.
The trackpad is easily one of the best Windows trackpads on par with the Surface Laptop 3 or the XPS 13. It’s made of glass with a very similar silicone finish to the rest of the interior, giving it a very smooth surface. Your finger will glide right across the surface very nicely, and it’s very responsive.
Let’s talk about the connectivity of this laptop; it has many vents to dissipate the heat, a power port, a full-size HDMI port, a USB Type-C port, and a headphone jack. On the other side, we have a couple of vents, proper 2 USB ports, and a USB Type-C port; in fact, you can even charge it via this port.
There’s a 76-watt hour battery. Its portable gaming performance should be enough to win over most gamers but the absolute incredible 9 hours of battery life is the icing on the cake. Especially when considering the Razor Blade, 15 can’t even pass the 6-hour mark.
The speakers on this are surprisingly good. You wouldn’t expect something like this to be as good as it is, but I would consider this to be among the best of any laptop. It has dual bottom-firing speakers, especially with Dolby Atmos sound. It gets quite loud, but they can get overpowered by the fan at times.
No webcam could be a deal-breaker for some who don’t want to add another peripheral to their gaming gear. If you need a webcam, then you might go for an external webcam.
Zephyrus G14 has been a very enjoyable laptop to use. The legion 7i has a nicer screen, and the Alienware M15 R3 has a better keyboard, but there’s no single 15-inch gaming laptop that exceeds this in all categories. For that reason, I can confidently say that anyone looking to move to a smaller laptop won’t feel like they are losing out on anything significant.
Overall, in terms of build quality, the keyboard, trackpad, speakers, battery life, etc. Zephyrus G14 is easily in my top 3 thin and light high-performance Windows laptops, the other 2 being the legion 7i and the Alienware M15 R3.
Suppose you want a portable gaming laptop with no major compromises other than mediocre upgradability. In that case, I highly recommend this, and I think it’s also priced fairly well, partly due to the AMD CPU.
1. HP Spectre X360 13T
The 1st best laptop to buy in 2021 is HP Spectre X360 13T. It is the best 2-in-1 laptop. One of the best-looking laptops you can get from HP is the HP Spectre X360 2-in-1 laptop. Now, if you’re not in the Apple camp, the HP Spectre X360 13T retails for around $1729 and comes with a cutting-edge design, great features, impressive specs, and versatile 2-in-1 functionality in one great package.
You can also set it up in different modes, maybe a tent mode or that presentation mode, a bunch of different options when using it. The HP Spectre X360 13T is a stylish laptop with some great features catering to students and professionals who want the added versatility of a 2-in-1 in a portable ultrabook.
With the included HP pen, it’s also ideal for creatives on the go.
The Spectre X360 is precision-crafted from a single piece of aluminum which looks fantastic, and what’s powering it under the hood is just as impressive. HP has designed this laptop to be very slim however very practical as well. So you’ll see on the corners they have a bit of an indent to them, and I’ve found that that makes holding it in tablet mode a lot more comfortable.
It’s an extremely premium-looking laptop. This laptop is only 2.87 pounds and 0.7-inches thick, so the footprint is so small it is easily going to fit in your backpack, and of course, you can carry it around with one hand because it’s so light.
It’s called the X360 for a reason, it is a 2-in-1 laptop so that it will flip all the way around; you can put it in a group of different modes to use it. It comes with a fingerprint scanner on the right side of that trackpad. It’s very easily accessible and signs in very quickly.
The setup process was easy, and then signing in once you turn the laptop on is quick and accurate.
You get an Intel Core i7, an absolute powerhouse, thanks to its Quad-Core design and flashy new Iris plus integrated graphics. The 13.3-inch FHD display is vivid, detailed, and even bright enough to use outdoors.
We like that HP gives you the option to bump up the resolution to a 4K touch screen AMOLED display for about $150 more for even better visuals that will appeal to content creators. The true vision HD IR camera works with Windows Hello facial recognition feature, and along with the integrated dual array microphone, you’re all set for your video calls.
It has a 10th generation Quad-Core i7 1065G7 mobile processor, and it is extremely fast, and you can do a lot of multitasking. You can edit the videos, and you can play the game as well. On top of that processing power, you also get 16 gigabytes of LPDDR4 RAM, so that’s going to help with a ton of multitasking.
You can have multiple applications open at once, and you can do some video editing with a bunch of browser tabs open all at the same time. You get a lot of storage in a small 13.3-inch laptop. This laptop has Intel Iris plus graphics to power that FHD display.
This laptop also supports Wi-Fi 6, so if you have a compatible router, you can take complete advantage of those higher speeds and increase bandwidth.
You’ll have a full-size keyboard which I found to be comfortable to type on. The keyboard action is quite nice and pleasant to use in laptop mode, especially with the large keys. Unfortunately, the up and down arrow keys are an only half size which can be frustrating if you use the navigation keys a lot. It is backlit as well and can be easily seen in the dark.
The trackpad is very comfortable to use, and it is very wide especially considering this is a 13.3-inch laptop. So it’s very easy to get to the left and right-hand sides of the screen. Once you flip it over, you’ll find the display snappy and responsive in tablet mode.
Going from laptop to tablet makes it more versatile compared to straight clamshell design laptops. Of course, you have a group of different gestures depending on how many fingers use on it.
You also get a good selection of ports, including 2 Thunderbolt 3 enabled USB C ports plus a DisplayPort 1.4 so you can set up a second display at home or the office. Also, for privacy, it has that webcam kill switch you can turn on and off.
Spectre X360 also has a really good battery life. You get up to 18 hours which means you can work on this laptop all day, and then after the day’s over, go ahead and maybe start consuming some content watching some video, or even playing some higher-end games.
Now, add the dual bang and Olufsen integrated speakers, and it’s a pretty good setup for streaming 4K content, especially when you put it in presentation mode,
Final thoughts on the HP Spectre X360 with that 13.3-inch form factor. It is so portable, yet you still have all those top-tier specs that make it extremely powerful, so not only is it a 2-in-1 in terms of it being a laptop and tablet is also a 2-in-1 in terms of portability and power.
Also, it is one of the best-looking laptops available in the market.
